"So Much to Learn" chosen for FOLK NOW Sept/Oct 2026 Compilation
Originally, I wrote So Much to Learn about the human tendency to never be satisfied with the way things are, be it person, place or time. In 1999, I went into the studio to record So Much to Learn in Madison, WI on the track was Rizal Iskandarsjach-drums, Ken Fitzsimmons-bass, and me - guitar and vocals. I asked my good friend and touring mate to add her sparkle on backing vocals and Vermont's Rachel Bissex did just that!
One year later everything changed, I had my first child and shortly after that the second. I decided I needed a "real" job and went back to school to become a Special Education teacher. 20 some years later, as we start a new school year, I have learned far more from teaching than I have ever taught. When I listen to So Much to Learn now, I think of the wonderful, weird and wacky dance between student and teacher and how those roles reverse.
